PRESS RELEASE – Meeting of the United Romiosyni groups from Xanthi and Komotini

On Sunday 7/06/2026, we, the ERO group in Komotini, met with the Romioi of Xanthi in the city of Xanthi, reciprocating the visit that the Xanthi group had made to Komotini on the 31st of May.

We first attended church at the Holy Church of the Honorable Forerunner in the heart of the picturesque old town, and at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy we descended the cobblestone alleys toward the banks of the river Kosynthos, which runs through the city.

We gathered at a café overlooking the river, where Romioi who had attended church at other Churches of the City, as well as additional people from Komotini, gradually arrived. We had our morning coffee and tasted the delicious treats, prepared with great care and love by our brothers from Xanthi.

Old acquaintances who had not seen one another for a long time were reunited, and our gathering quickly "took on" a festive character, binding the bonds among the members of the group even more closely and making a further meeting imperative — one which it was decided would this time take place in the city of Kavala.

We thank the good God who granted us to meet, and we pray that this meeting – and every one that follows – may bear spiritual (and not only spiritual) fruits and even more blessings.
