Tinos: Reports by residents of Turkish fishing vessels 200 meters from the shore (video)
A resident of Tinos, in posts on social media, reports that Turkish fishing vessels appeared earlier off the shores of… his island, in the center of the Cyclades! His reports are also confirmed by the nautical charts that show the movements of the ships in the Aegean.
«A Turkish fishing boat… Came within 200 METERS of the southern shore of Tinos… from my house… It is hauling a net… If you look carefully you will see it… it has been fishing nearby since yesterday… it has swept up everything…. No one cares…», he notes characteristically.
He himself confirms the existence of at least three Turkish fishing vessels, which are located offshore -and close- to Tinos, already since yesterday, while they are fishing today as well.
What the Coast Guard says
Newsbomb (note: the original source of the news) came into contact with the Coast Guard requesting information about the specific reports, as well as whether there is a violation of the Greek territorial waters zone as it appears, and the answer we received was that the matter is being examined.
Continuous Turkish activity
A large Turkish fishing fleet was detected in the Greek waters of the island complex of the Cyclades in the central Aegean on June 30.
At least 14 Turkish trawlers appear to have been operating south of Serifos, 2 to the north of it and south of Kythnos, while an additional 5 were traced west of Syros. Finally, at least 7 vessels were traced operating westward up to the island of Kythira, south of the Peloponnese.
